Today I was feeling
particularly energetic (and also panicky about fitting in Christmas party
dresses), so Alfie and I decided to ‘take on’ Pitsford reservoir. It’s a really
good walk for you and your dog, totalling 10K or nearly 7 miles.
We parked at Brixworth Country Park
(there are other parking alternatives), and looped all around the waters edge,
all on good, solid pathways. This is suitable for pushchairs and prams, and
most age groups seem to be doing fine. Obviously, you can make it as much of a
work out as you require. We jogged as much of it as we could, but it’s a really
enjoyable walk. With some jogging and walking it took us 1 hour 35 minutes. As
a walk you’re probably looking at 2 hours, or as a run more like 1 hour.
We really enjoyed it, and
recommend it if you haven’t been. The only downsides are lack of ‘poo’ bins,
and parking charges. At Brixworth it’s £2.60 for 12 hours, which is great value
if you’re there all day, but a bit of a pain if you’re only there 2 hours.
Let me know if you give
it a try yourselves J
