Makes you feel good, don't it!

As you may well remember (or still have on your wall), we held the ‘Puparazzi’ event last year, and produced a fabulous 2014 Barkitty Calender, in association with Amour Pix.

I thought you might like to see where the money went. A cheque was donated directly to Soi Dog UK, and the remaining balance was sent to a very special lady working in Thailand, Soot Liang Woo runs the WSK Shelter.

I wanted to share a big THANK YOU with you all, for the money we raised from our 'Puparazzi' calendar from this year. In addition to supporting dogs who were homeless and facing the meat trade in Thailand; our sizeable donation has also helped cats.

Some of our money has been spent on cat food and medicines for the WSK Shelter. There is no budget for cat food and so they have to eat dog food unless Soot buys them something. She has got food now for the next couple of months.
Please support Soi Dog -> https://www.soidog.org
and the WSK Shelter for Dogs & Cats here ->https://www.facebook.com/WSKProject

I’d like to personally thank Rachel Barton for introducing me to the work of Soi Dog, and in turn, the work Soot does. Once again I’d like to thank Amour Pix for their help in creating the calendar, and ‘Graphics and Print’ who produced it for us, free of charge. Also, thanks to everyone who took part, and of course, everyone who bought one. We’ve really enjoyed using ours this year.

Lumitubes

As the dark nights draw in, dog walking becomes a more difficult, and dangerous task. That’s why we’re stocking the brand new Lumitubes by Red Dingo.

Statistics from the PDSA have revealed that during winter the veterinary costs of pets being involved in road accidents rises by 50 per cent, with the chances of your pet being involved in an accident increasing by eighty per cent.

To protect your pet the PDSA advises wearing high visibility clothing and accessories, which is why Dapper is launching the new Lumitube Illuminated Safety Collar from Red Dingo.

The brilliant Lumitube is lightweight and contains two powerful LEDs, which create an ultra-bright, even glow around the whole neck. This gives superb 360-degree visibility, unlike flashing collar attachments that are only visible from the front.

The Lumitube collar is available in two lengths and the tubing can actually be cut to size creating the perfect fit for any dog. Quick release connectors allow the collar to be assembled and disassembled in seconds and, when fitted correctly, the Lumitube should slip on and off a dog’s head without needing to undo the loop. The Lumitube collar is powered by just one AAA battery, which is included, and replacements are inexpensive and widely available.

The Lumitube is super stylish too as it is available in a choice of four dazzling colours. If you have more than one dog you can colour-code your pack so you know exactly who’s who in the dark.

Also, The Lumitube Illuminated Safety Collar is waterproof so nocturnal adventurers can indulge in a spot of night swimming without their owners losing sight of them.

We have a winner!

Thanks to everyone who entered the Great Barkitty Bake Off this year! Several magnificent entries were placed, featuring gravy bones, mashed potatoes and celery ‘trees’; and the difficult job of judging a winner was given to BBC Radio Northampton DJ and baking enthusiast, Bernie Keith. After careful consideration he chose to crown Helen Davis, from Thrapston, the winner.

Bernie said of the entries “they’re all very good and I’m sure not one would last half a minute with Riles [his Schnauzer]”

Their prize was a luxury gift bundle from Barkitty, along with a voucher to spend on delicacies at The Larder Deli, in Castle Ashby. Following the success of the event, hosted online we hope to run the competition every year, envisioning it will only get better and better!

Ladies who meet

I attended my first AAW meeting today, which is Jo Cameron’s Achievers Academy for Women. I got to meet with a small group of successful women who are in business, and chat about our work. Hopefully this can only help Barkitty grow!

It was a very informal, welcoming environment, and I think it would be very valuable for me to become a member. If you are a woman looking for inspiration in your professional life, then see the website here -> http://www.achieversacademyforwomen.com/

Sunny Hunny

The sun was shining this morning, so we decided to take Alfie to the beach for the day! It was so nice. We drove to Heacham and walked down the beach to Hunstanton from there. Alfie is a real beach babe, and loved playing in the sea and running around!

On the way back we stopped at Burnham Market and found a very glamourous, yet dog friendly pub, The Hoste. I had an amazing glass of Pinot Grigio in there, highly recommened… hiccup J
